Bhaktifest Aerial Art Ritual & Film Project

Dear Friends, I’ve been working behind the scene for weeks with my creative partners John Quigley and Magalie Bonneau-Marcil as well as the Unify crew, getting ready to catalyze a Water Goddess Aerial Art Ritual. The creative effort will focus on bringing thousands of yogis together to raise awareness on the water crises we’re facing in California – particularly on the impact of fracking and to create a short video that can be sent out to the media and through our social networks. Check out this video below to find out more: https://vimeo.com/136988029This is about leveraging the power of participatory art, demonstration, ceremony, story telling and social media. The initiative will happen on September 12 in Joshua Tree at the heart of Bhakti Fest. Come and Play! We’re building a team of movement, voice and ritual facilitators that will help pull this off on a massive scale. It will be filmed from the ground and the sky and then turned into a short viral video. For those interested in joining the creative team, join us on September 9th. Sign up here for more info:...
The Medicine of Injury

The Medicine of Injury

The taste of medicine is often unpleasant. It’s been a long time since I’ve had an injury. I almost forgot how debilitating it can be when part of my body doesn’t work properly. It’s amazing how much it affects every small thing that I do throughout the day. It changes my perspective. It limits my range in so many ways. It takes my focus away from all the larger things that seem to be so important in life…the things I’m striving for, the problems I’ve been trying to solve, or the places I’m aiming to get to. Instead it draws my focus in so close and so deep inside. I injured my hip flexor the other day. I’m not even sure how it happened. There wasn’t a significant moment that I felt something pop or shift. Thank goodness because it is not a serious injury, meaning there is no damage or tear to the tissue. It is just strained and inflamed. I couldn’t lift or twist my leg or bend over without an immense amount of pain, and even the littlest thing like rolling over in bed or putting on my socks was a huge feat. Of course this brings a lot of emotional and mental stress for me because my body is not just a vacation home, it is my primary residence. It is the vehicle for how I do my work in the world, as Christopher Pearson, acupuncturist/bodyworker so precisely stated. I was able to get a session with him the morning after it happened. It was amazing the amount of fear that was locked into holding...
Here I am…

Here I am…

Welcome to my new and improved site! I am thrilled to have one place that showcases everything I offer. It has been quite a journey to get here. And the more I realize that here is just another moment along the endless path, the more I am able to arrive in clarity and be present in the moment. So…hello world! Here I am. Alyssa DeCaro. I am a lover of movement and sound! I believe my body is my greatest teacher, and that yours can be the same for you. I love teaching yoga because it has an innate element of healing and self care. I love teaching Body of Sound because it offers a space for discovery and play and self expression. This site will be a hub for all the classes and events that I offer in these realms. The products in the shop are all ones that I personal use and endorse. OmPure is the most comfortable clothing I have EVER worn. It is made with extremely high quality and the designs are so beautiful. The Stem Enhance SE2 product is the only supplement I have been taking for 8 years now. I have a busy active life and I believe this supplement contributes to my health so I can continue doing what I love. I hope you enjoy the site and please let me know what you think It is a work in progress, and I look forward to adding more to this site and to the Body of Sound site as inspiration flows. For now I am happy to be right here right now....
